The New Solita Brunch Menu Spices up the Weekend
One of my favorite Orange County Mexican restaurants is Solita in Huntington Beach. I first reported their opening last year. They recently introduced a new brunch menu that features delicious new brunch items and a fun drink program that will elevate your next brunch gathering.
The new brunch menu, developed by Executive Chef and Partner Deb Schneider, puts a gourmet spin on some classic Mexican dishes. I was recently invited to Solita to experience it for myself. Although the food I tried was hosted by Solita, all thoughts and reviews are purely my own. Here is a hint, I loved it.
Solita Brunch Dishes
Huevos Rancheros
Huevos Rancheros is one of my all-time favorite breakfast dishes and Solita did it justice. If you never had huevos rancheros before it is a mixture of several ingredients including eggs, tortillas, sauce, and cheese. The Solita version of Heuvos Rancheros is high end and made with refried black beans, 2 fried or scrambled eggs, ranchera salsa, melted cheese, avocado & cotixa cheese.

This dish comes in either a verdi sauce which is the ever so slightly spicy salsa flavor or a more cinamony flavored version that reminds me of a colonial Mexico influence.
This dish is best when you order the egg fried, over easy or over medium. When you cut into the dish, the egg yolks will slowly drizzle all over the other ingredients. If that description sounded sexual, then good.$11.75

Chilaquiles y Huevos
For anyone not familiar with the classic Mexican breakfast dish it a culinary mash up of purposefully over-loaded soggy nachos and a greasy spoon egg combo. Sounds crazy yes, but also crazy delicious!

The Solita version is like the grand dame version of Chilaquiles. This dish elegant enough to serve to the Queen. It is made with chips, onion, salsa, cheese, scrambled eggs, pico de gallo, crema.

El Guero “The White Boy” (American Breakfast)
So you have that one guy in your group that refuses to egg anything for eggs and bacon for breakfast, they have you covered. The White Boy comes with a two eggs, 3 pieces bacon & ketchup, served with one side $8

Breakfast Burrito
The breakfast burrito is a good in between dish for someone who still wants to enjoy scrambled eggs , but with a Mexican food twist. It is made with refried black beans, scrambled eggs & cheese. I recommend that you order it “Wet” style for $1 extra. $10

Berry Cinnamon Bread Pudding,
This is perhaps one of the better bread puddings that I have tasted. The bread pudding is both fluffy and dense, irony I know. It is topped with fresh berries, brown sugar sour cream sauce and agave. Although this dish seems super sweet, it was actually balanced. I think the sour cream added the right amount of savory to prevent you from going into sugar shock. I would order this every time I visit. $10.75

Beverages
Any brunch would not be complete without a proper selection of adult beverages. Solita offers a fun collection of fun bevies to amp up your brunch.
Rainbow Mimosas

For $20 you get sparkling with four champagne glasses with your choices of mango, watermelon, guava, strawberry, pomegranate, or pineapple fresh fruit puree.

Beer Bucket and Michelada Bucket
The Michealda bucket comes with your choice of four beers and a carafe of michealda. You can also order it by itself. I recommend you get the Michelada with a dark Mexican Beer like Modelo Negro.

My Final Thoughts on the new Solita Brunch
For those who “Brunch”, picking the right restaurant is essential to ensuring a good time. The restaurant should have a friendly vibe, great food and a great selection of fun drinks that elevate the experience. I think Solita nailed with with their new brunch menu. I recommend you ask for a seat on their patio.
